How to do a professional facial
Our step guide will include cleansing, extraction, exfoliation, and hydration. Follow these basic steps for facial, personalizing each step as needed.
1. Preparation
Depending on where you're going to get your facial, there are some steps you should take to prepare. If you're getting a full body massage afterward, some spas will have you dress in comfortable clothing. Some will give you a foot bath along with a shoulder massage, while others will simply ask you to walk to the treatment area. A particular favorite is when the esthetician asks you to lie down on the bed and gives you a vigorous shoulder and face massage, followed by the scent of relaxing oils like lavender. Preparation will usually depend on the package you purchased.
2. Cleanse
This is where your esthetician removes your makeup, and it's the first time she'll actually touch your skin. This will help indicate the condition of your skin without makeup and the level of sensitivity of your skin. This step will be taken even if you are not wearing makeup. This facial cleansing is usually very soothing. Your esthetician will use mild products to gently cleanse your skin using light, medium strokes. It also works as a massager, giving you more relaxation.
3. Exfoliate
Mechanical exfoliants have a gritty texture, while chemical exfoliants use enzymes and acids.
Then esthetician will wash it off and you will be ready for the next step.
4. Steam
It heats up the internal temperature of the skin and slightly dilates the pores. This causes the hard oil present in the pores to melt slightly, making extraction easier. Clogged pores are one of the biggest causes of acne, so it is important to deep clean them and remove all the dirt trapped there. The esthetician will usually turn on the steamer and point it in the general direction of your face. There was no pain at all during this procedure.
5. Extraction
After steaming comes the most challenging part of most facials – extraction. During the extraction process, acne vulgaris (blackheads and whiteheads) will be removed from the face. Leave areas of active acne alone as they can cause lesions. Esthetician don't touch the pimples under this rain, and pop the pimples that are not ready to burst.
6. Mask
You're almost at the end of your facial routine, and masks are a great way to end it and keep skin looking fresh. The beauty expert will choose the mask suitable for your skin type. Using a fan brush, start applying to the T-zone with long, wide strokes. After that, apply on collarbone area and neck, then apply on jaw, chin and cheek area. After applying the mask, place eye pads on your eyes and leave the mask on for about 10 minutes. Then remove the mask.
7. Moisturize
Once your mask is removed the esthetician moves on to the final step which is ensuring that your skin is hydrated. First of all, apply eye cream by patting around the eyes. Start from the inner corner and move outwards. After this, apply serum and moisturizer on chest, neck and face.
8. Massage
In the final step, the esthetician will lightly massage your face. Not only does it feel good, but it also helps increase circulation and lymphatic drainage. This may result in the skin becoming pale and swollen. It stimulates your facial muscles, promotes blood circulation and also reduces swelling.
