What does concealer do | How to apply

What is a concealer?

Concealer is a form of makeup that hides things you do not want others to see, for instance, dark circles under your eyes, acne, redness or any blemishes you are not comfortable with. Apply concealer on top of the foundation because that will prevent it from smudging. Using the right applicator, concealer application is rather simple. You just dab or brush it on the areas you want to conceal. Usually applied directly to the face on areas where an improper skin tone or flaws that need to be concealed for an even glow, it is usually available in cream or liquid preparations. Concealer gives an equal basis for no gap application and even extends the life of the products.

They come in various shades to provide a suitable shade for every type of skin and may be used on the areas of the skin concern for natural coverage that diminishes their appearance. Concealer is also a product that can be used to contour the face. It creates a sculpted facial effect based on the actual outline of the face. Concealers are part of most personal care routines in creating polished and perfected appearances.

Types of concealer

There are three main types of concealer:

Liquid Concealer: As most people can agree, liquid concealer is the most popular and the most practical of all concealers available in the market. It usually has a tube with an applicator wand and is lightweight, easy to use. They are the best even on oily combination complexion. Liquid concealer has three finishes: satin, radiant shimmer and matte. The matte finish offers longer wear than the satin finish. But, satin will appear more realistic especially for the dry skin type. In fact, a radiant shimmer finish is recommended to be applied under the eyes since it is good for making the eyes pop. In fact, experts say that most women should avoid using a matte concealer if the skin is dry because it will emphasize the dry areas. It is also quite useful for a person who suffers from intolerance or has an acne-prone skin. Excellent in hiding the zits and fine lines.

Benifits:

  • It can be natural or full coverage.

  • Liquid concealers are usually liquid. Liquids have a water-like consistency. This liquid texture makes the liquid better at blending and setting.
  • Setting powder or spray will make it last longer but prevent wrinkles, fading, or blemishes.
  • It can nourish and moisturize your skin with ingredients like glycerin, aloe vera, and vitamin E.

Cream concealer: Cream concealer is one of the other types of concealer, and it usually comes in a pot, stick or palette. It is thick and creamy. So if you have hyperpigmentation, discoloration, acne scars or very dark circles, a cream concealer is perfect as it provides full coverage. For a more detailed application, use a concealer brush on targeted areas, while for a more diffused and natural-looking effect, apply using your fingers. Since it is a pigmented balm, this product is best for people with dry to normal skin and will look very patchy on people with large pores.

  • This emollient cream is so easy to apply that it glides on easily with a brush or sponge.
  • It can provide medium or full coverage.
  • It comes in a variety of finishes from matte to dewy, depending on your preference and your skin type.

Stick concealer: Available in matte and commonly used satin finish. Both have long-lasting power and do not flake or run. It is also known as a color-correcting concealer that can help you neutralize unwanted tones or colors on your skin. After mixing the concealer with a satin finish, you need to apply a thin layer of powder to enhance its consistency. This type of concealer offers sheer to medium coverage and works well if you are short on time. It is perfect for normal, dry or sensitive skin.
