What is a Makeup Blush?
Blush is a cosmetic that is applied to the cheeks for color. Blush is available in a wide range of colors from pale pink to deep red. This way, you get a color of choice according to your preference and skin type. Besides, it defines your cheekbones and gives contours to your face. It makes your face look fresh and rosy. Fresh rosy glow makes the face look so healthy and glowing. It also comes in various formulas and types like powder, cream, liquid or stick.
Makeup blush can be used in so many various ways and saves a lot of time. It also depends on how you want your blush shade to be: when choosing a blush color, you should consider the undertone of your skin. If it has warm undertone then peachy/coral shades shall be suitable. For cool undertones, rosy or berry colors are suitable.
Easy Method For Applying Blush
First of all, apply a small amount of blush to whatever tool you are using, whether sponge, brush, or even your fingers! You can always add more blush, but it is almost impossible to scrape off excess blush.
Touch the tool to the area of your face where you want the most pigment, then blend out. In almost all cases, for most people, that's the apples of their cheeks and then you would blend upward as you move toward the temple.
Third, it is very easy to get on too much blush and end up looking like a clown. Although at times this look is great, it is mostly not what people want to look like. Apply a little blush at a time and see yourself in different lighting – inside, with vanity lights, camera flash and natural sunlight.
Choosing The Right Blush For Your Skin Tone
- Dry skin: For individuals who have dry skin, a cream blush is generally softer and better because it keeps the skin moist, and smooth, with a nice glow, blending well without enhancing the visibility of dry or flaky skin. So, it is very good for dry or aging skin because it would not create lines or pores on the face.
- Combination skin: Combination skin is when your skin is dry in some areas and oily on others. These people work best with powder blush because it allows oil to be sucked into the formula, reducing shine around the forehead, nose, and chin, giving the face a balanced, smooth look.
- Oily skin: Powder blush is more advisable for people with oily skin because this is a lighter type that can absorb excess oil, thus making the face shine less. It also sticks well on oily skin and does not easily fade. Moreover, avoid shimmery blushes as they might add more shine to oily skin; opt for matte ones instead.
- Sensitive skin: when applied on sensitive skins, it is recommended that hypoallergenic and fragrance-free cream or liquid blushes are applied since they are less likely to irritate the skin while giving a natural finish.
