Skin types: normal, oily, dry, combination and sensitive skin

What is Skin Type ?

Skin type is determined by how much oil or sebum a person's skin produces. Sebum is a substance used to retain moisture in the skin. Being aware of one's skin needs helps one find suitable items that work best and deal with potential difficulties without causing any harm. The main skin types are normal, dry, oily, combination and sensitive. So, here's how to know your skin type and take care of it.

  • Normal skin: This type of skin produces enough sebum to keep the skin evenly hydrated without making it greasy. Normal skin can handle most substances compared to all other skin types. If you have a normal skin type, you typically won't have to deal with acne breakouts or product sensitivities and your skin will have the right balance of hydration and oil production. The scientific term for balanced skin is eudermic such as the T-zone (nose, forehead and chin). However, despite the fact that normal skin does not have any particular problems or concerns, it still requires proper skin care to look and feel its best.
