What is a makeup brushes & Their types

What is a Makeup Brushes?

Makeup brushes are integral to achieving a flawless, airbrushed look that’ll help you face your day with confidence. Not only do brushes make applying makeup quick and easy, but they also help apply product smoothly and evenly, creating a more flawless finish. A good collection of brushes is a must for every makeup lover. The typical makeup brush has three main parts: the handle, the bristles, and the ferrule.

The handle is made of plastic, metal and wood. Sometimes the handles are also made from sustainable or recycled materials like bamboo. It comes in different shapes and sizes for comfort and control.

The ferrule is typically made of some type of metal such as aluminum, nickel-plated brass, or plastic. The bristles are affixed to the top of the ferrule, which is often flat. This keeps the bristles in place and provides stability to the brush. Keep in mind that the bottom of the ferrule is also attached to the handle, so it is not advisable to allow water to get into the ferrule or leave the brush in water.

Bristle is a hard hair or feather. They are made from animal hair or synthetic hair, or a combination of both.

Animal hair is also called 'natural' hair. They usually come from animals such as goats, squirrels, badgers or horses. These are often used for powder products. Synthetic are made from polymers and include various types of nylon, polypropylene, polyester, and polyvinyl chloride.  These are very smooth and less makeup goes to waste than with natural bristles. This makes them a good choice when you are applying creams, gels and liquids.

There are many types of brushes, like:

How to choose the right makeup brush?

Brushes are one of the most important items in your makeup kit. Knowing how to shop for the right brush is crucial. With the right tools, not necessarily the expensive ones, your makeup will look better, apply easier, and last longer.

1. Quality Over Quantity

Always invest in quality brushes. Once again, you don't need an assortment of brushes; you need just the right ones. In choosing a brush keep in mind that just because it costs you an arm and a leg does not necessarily mean that it's a good one. So choose quality products and you will come to realize that if you treat your brushes right-and clean them, of course-they'll last for you, so look at it as long-term investment.

2. Don't Buy Sets

Never, ever purchase brush sets. Yeah, yeah, you're right: they might look very neatly placed in the little carry case. Yet, the sad truth remains that most of the ones available are filled with all the brushes no sane person on a regular day would pay extra for, and you yourself might not even break open half of them from that carry case. Honestly speaking, it is just waste too much.

3. Know What Brush Does What

When choosing makeup brushes, don't think it's as simple as watching a YouTube video and buying everything they are recommending. Neither do I think you're going to come to this blog post, read what I'm going to write about each and every brush I will be mentioning, and buy every one of them. It's very important to research what you need, select which products work for you. not someone else.

Does the material of the bristle brush matter much?

Yes, it has to be brushes made from materials suitable for your taste and skin type. As seen in our makeup brush guide, synthetic brushes are wonderful for liquid and cream products and mostly hypoallergenic. Natural hairbrushes are great for powder products and blending.

Look for brushes with comfortable handles and are well weighted. Ergonomic designed brushes make the application a lot easier and even fun. Consider how easily it can be cleaned and maintained. Brushes that are easy to clean will last long and perform better. Always buy brushes from a reliable source that is known to provide quality and durability. Companies like Nee Make Up Milano are known for innovative design and high-quality material.

It will depend on the shape and size that best suits you in the end. Try all the different shapes and sizes of brushes until you find which is best suited for your style and daily makeup routine. With these tips, you can put together a whole set of makeup brushes to complement your makeup application, leaving you flawless every time.

What is the difference between Natural and synthetic makeup brushes ?

Animal hair is the most common material used for natural makeup brushes. Sable, goat, and squirrel hair are most often colored a soft brown or tan, but can be dyed black or bleached to white. The cuticle of natural hair protects and lifts and absorbs the powdered pigments and oils of the skin. Natural hairs have an ability to spread out rather than sticking together under pressure that makes them great for a cosmetic blend and gives you a perfect, smooth finish with no blotches on it. Natural makeup brushes are very smooth and so comforting against the skin as well as they can look fluffy rather than flat, which is good for applying powder-based cosmetics like eyeshadow, blushers, bronzers, highlighters, and finishing or setting powders. Since natural makeup brushes soak up creams and pigments, cleaning them may prove a bit challenging. Indeed, the natural hairs of makeup brushes can even dry up and break off into "shedding," much the same as those human hair does. They tend to be more costly, and a little more difficult to find, especially in specialty forms and sizes.

Synthetic makeup brush bristles are made from synthetic hair material, including nylon and polyester, among others. Synthetic bristles are usually white or colorless, though sometimes colored (rarely bright colors, but often a shade of brown or tan to represent actual bristles). Synthetic bristles lack a cuticle; therefore, they will not absorb oils or powdered pigments as quickly as natural hair does. Therefore, they are to be used as cream or liquid makeup, like foundation, concealer, and the following are cut to sharp angles: they tend to be quite flat and stiff and become ideal for super fine application, such as eyeliner or lipstick. They also tend to stick together under pressure rather than spreading, and they don't make as smooth a pass on the skin as real sable, so they work fairly poorly for blending. There is little shedding in quality synthetic makeup brushes, easy to clean and store, and synthetic makeup brushes abound. They are often nearly free. In the end, synthetic makeup brushes work best with creamy and liquid makeup and are perfect for precise applications like eyeliner and lipstick, among others. While some will have very clear preferences for a specific type of makeup brush, many have found that they do best with shopping for makeup brushes by the products that they will be used with-natural hair for powders, synthetics for liquids, etc. Keep in mind that the professional makeup brush is the one that works best for you.

Why do natural makeup brushes cost so much more than synthetic brushes?

This relates to actually sourcing the makeup brush ingredients and putting them together. Natural  makeup brushes tend to be more costly as it is more expensive to source good natural fibers that are soft, have the same size, and same color. Prices can skyrocket pretty fast once you start looking for better and better natural-fiber makeup brushes due to the restrictions placed on fur collecting and the trouble with distinguishing between proper fibers for the appropriate kind of makeup brush.

Following the supplies, is the process of manufacturing the makeup brushes themselves. Natural makeup brushes are usually handmade, tied by hand, and bunched by hand. Therefore, they are pricier than synthetics because a lot of man-hour is exerted in making them.
